How is 2011 tracking for you so far?
I can’t believe we are already at the end of January. Is this year going to go as fast as 2010 did?
Maybe its just that I am getting older so life seems to move quicker. I remember as a child wishing my life away and wanting it to go quicker, for me to get older, to grow up and be an adult, and whilst I wouldn’t want to go back to those times, I would like it to slow down a fraction.
Already this year I have multiple projects on the go with work and a never ending stream of commitments and social engagements as a large number of friends and myself all turn 40 within the coming 12 months.
With my ‘boys’ at work we have resumed our lunch club and I have been writing reviews of the restaurants we have been to and will start posting those on here.
I’m back on the market, have been since early November. Unfortunately that relationship didn’t work out, although we had known each other for a very long time (8 years to be in fact) and emotions ran deep, we were trying to sustain something that wasn’t possible for the long term as we are currently on different continents. So whilst he isn’t in my life any longer as a partner, he most definitely is as a friend which I am very happy about.
So what do I want out of 2011?
Well, I know we all make resolutions and so often those resolutions get broken because they aren’t realistic, they aren’t plans or goals but rather a wish list of things we want to do.
So this year, instead of resolutions I have written what I am calling the blueprint for ‘Danielle Version 2011’.
‘Danielle V.2011’ is all about turning the disappointments of 2010 into triumphs and also adding to that triumph list. So here it is, its not totally comprehensive, it’s a living list that will change as items are accomplished or other things are added as they appear in my world.
‘Danielle V.2011’ will :
Be brave and courageous and fight for what I what believe in;
Continue to live my life with integrity, no matter the cost;
Look after me – emotionally, physically, financially;
Achieve a work / life balance; (harder said than done that one – but I’m working at it!!)
Go to the gym 3 days a week – no excuses – I pay for those days with my trainer so I’m going to use them!;
Stick to my sensible eating plan 90% of the time and plan for the 10% so it doesn’t undo the good of the 90%;
Pursue more culture – see the plays, opera’s, bands, movies that interest me, even if it means attending alone;
Be more patient and tolerant of others;
Love with unbridled passion and reckless abandon – it doesn’t come along all that often and when it does I’m going to grab it with both hands;
Not be afraid to explore relationships that come from unlikely and least expected places;
Spend more time with my beautiful extended family;
Go to church more often and embrace my faith;
Stick to my savings plan;
Study and continue to pursue my career development;
Network, network, network;
Take singing lessons and embrace my talent;
Take the appropriate creative course and publishing courses at Sydney Writer’s Centre to get my novel finished with the intent of getting it published;
Update my blog regularly – I have so many ideas and I set it up with the intention of being able to brain dump them, now its time to actually do it!;
When the weather cools down go back to Sydney Dance Company for jazz and hip hop classes again;
Be the best version of me that I can be.
So far I’ve managed to achieve little bits of all of those things, in particular my novel which is so far sitting at 24,652 words and about a 1/3rd done. I’m very excited with the direction it is taking and already have some writing commenced towards the next one – which I’m yet to decide whether to turn into fiction or keep as ‘reality tv’ version of my writing. I need to get the first one finished and an agent first and then we will worry about the rest!
For now though, 2011 is looking like it may just be interesting, so I’ll keep you posted on its progress :)
